Chess Club

After half term Mrs Veitch will be organising a chess club for children from Years 2, 3 and 4 on Wednesday lunchtimes. This replaces netball club. Please would you indicate on the attached form if your child would like to participate. If the group is too large preference will be given to the older children.

Football Club

Football Club has now finished but will resume next year. Thank you to all of the children who took part this half term.

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your support over the last few weeks with the different events that we have held.

We are so pleased with our NSPCC sponsored event which raised almost £1200 for the NSPCC. Fiona was very impressed with the amount raised from a smaller school. Well done to everyone.

Our Book Week was again popular and the school was able to take £175 worth of books to go into the classrooms.

Thank you to for the cakes you sent in for the Harvest Celebration. Once again the children performed well and this was greatly appreciated by our senior citizens.

Samaritan’s Purse

Just to remind you that the filled shoe boxes should be returned to school by Friday 6th November, so please return them after half term. Thank you.

Questionnaire for Parents on the Distinctive Character of the School

If you have not done so already, please return the distinctive character of our school questionnaire that was with last weeks newsletter, by Wednesday 4th November. It is helpful to hear your views.

Free Activity during half term

We have been informed about a free activity for all the family during half term. It will be held at Marston Vale Forest Park on Tuesday 27th October from 11am to 3pm. It is called ‘Building on the Past’ and you can make your own Saxon house to take home! Sounds like great fun!

Half term event

Last week you received a leaflet from Sports Extra about a half term holiday club on Thursday October 29th at our school. Very few parents had returned the forms by last Wednesday. Sports Extra did promote the event on Wednesday in school, but if they do not have 15 children the event may have to be cancelled. I will know later today. If you have booked, you will be informed by Sports Extra if it is cancelled.

Riseley Toddler Group are running two events. There will be a Christmas Shopping event which will be held on Thursday 5th November, 9.30 to 11.30am. There is a ‘Nearly New Sale’ with Cream teas & cake on Saturday 7th November, 10am to 1pm. Both events have a £1.00 entrance fee.

Tables are £7 or if you only have a few items then toddlers will sell them for you and take 25%. Please contact Ali Tennant on 01234 709332 for more details.

We were sad when we heard that Mrs Kath MacLeod who had helped at Toddlers for 21 years, passed away last year. We would like to commemorate all she gave to toddlers with a bench which will be in the children's playground on the playing field. If you remember Kath when you and your children were part of toddlers, we would like to invite you to join us in the park on Tuesday 10th November at 11.45 to celebrate her life.
